Dermatologist Questions Bleaching

Is bleaching bad for the skin?

As part of my monthly facial. I go to bleach my facial hair since I'd rather do that than pluck it. I read an article recently that says bleaching may not be a very good option for my skin. Is this really not safe?

I don’t know of any permanent issues. What I can caution you against is superficial chemical burns from the bleaching agent and allergic and irritant contact dermatitis. It is important to do a test area first always.

Putting bleach on any part of the body has detrimental effects, e.g., baldness (i.e., hair loss), patchy alopecia, dandruff, etc.
