I'm 42 years old and I'm going to have my first colonoscopy. Is a colonoscopy safe?

Yes, in general a colonoscopy is a low risk procedure as long as the patient is healthy.
Yes, a colonoscopy is safe. There are risks involved everytime you go inside the human body (ie. infection, bleeding, reaction to meds they use to put you to sleep and even putting a hole or tear in the colon from the scope they use), however, all of these are very RARE. Most people wake up and can't believe we did it already.
