Is insomnia a side effect of anesthesia?

I am a 24 year old male and I have insomnia after anesthesia. Is insomnia a side effect of anesthesia?

NO. Some patients get the false impression that by going under general anesthesia, they can make up for lost hours of sleep in the past. Clinical studies have proven that no such benefit is accrued: you awaken with the same sleep deficit as you had before anesthesia. Anesthesia has no effect.

Yes. Insomnia, bad dreams, and nightmares could be side effects of general anesthesia, but disappear usually in a short time.
