“How can I prevent my child from getting Hand, Foot, and Mouth Disease?”
My 2 year old daughter goes to daycare, and I've been told a few children in the school have HFMD. I unfortunately have no choice but to bring her to daycare because of my job. Is there anything I can do to help prevent my daughter from getting HFMD?

Ask the day care center to be careful about close contact among the children and frequent handwashing. Since hand-foot-mouth disease is also transmitted via the oral-fecal route, the day care personnel need to be especially careful about cleanliness around diapering.
Unfortunately, there is virtually no way to prevent this in a daycare setting.
