It’s very common to get pain or soreness after an adjustment. It usually only lasts a day or two and then you should start feeling relief even in your original discomfort.
Much like going to the gym when you haven't been in a while, it's not uncommon for a little soreness after an adjustment as your body is getting used to being in a different position.
It's very common to feel soreness within the first 48 hours of your adjustment. I suggest drinking frequent amounts of water with in those hours and stay away form sleeping on your side within the first 48 hours if this is your first adjustment.
Thank you.
Hello,

It’s not that your back “should” hurt, but there are several things that can make your back hurt after an adjustment. Most of the time, people just feel much better after an adjustment, but we are working in areas that are irritated and inflamed. We also are changing your spinal structure and muscles are pulling differently. These things can cause soreness or pain, and it is usually relieved by using ice for 10-15 minutes as often as needed.
Good luck as you gain better health through chiropractic!

Generally speaking, your back should not hurt very much after an adjustment. However, experiencing soreness or aching is normal. You might want to communicate with your chiropractor exactly what you are feeling and definitely give the treatments time to take effect. Any persistent or worsening of your condition should be explained to the doctor.
There are multiple factors that may play into it. One may be the extent of subluxation of the spine. The other is how you normally respond to care. It is not out of the ordinary for patients to have some discomfort after an adjustment. The best approach is to make sure your chiropractor is aware and they may have to further evaluate your condition to make sure nothing
new has developed.
Not necessarily but in certain circumstance typically due to inflammation there can be some "therapeutic discomfort" prior to healing and reduction of pain.
Sometimes this is normal.
It is commander for our bodies to be sore for a couple of days after an adjustment. If the pain continues or worsens, you should contact the Chiropractor you saw and let them know what's happening.
