Ear-Nose and Throat Doctor (ENT) Questions Strep Throat

After a strep throat infection, how long should I avoid sending my son to school?

My son is 9 years old and recently got a strep throat infection. He is currently on antibiotics which should end in another 2 days. When is the right time to start sending him to school again? Is it okay to send him to school while he's on antibiotics if he's feeling better? I'd hate to put his classmates at risk.

I believe the old rule about childhood infections still holds true. He can return to school after he goes 24 hours without a fever.

After the antibiotics have been started and the child is improving with reduced pain, about 72 hours is safe to send the child back to school. He should not be near other children with reduced immunities.
Once onantibiotics, and not having fevers, and feeling better, can go back 48 hrs later. Just need to practice good sanitation practice. ,

Until he is without a fever and objectively/subjectively is feeling okay, should be under 7 days.
Probably ok now. Have him cover mouth if coughs, sneezes. Wash hands frequently. Not share eating utensils.
