It depends on the amount of blood, the injured organs, and whether the bleeding will stop by itself. Treatment can involve non-operative treatment (aka "watchful waiting"), catheter based therapy to isolate and embolize the bleeding vessels, or surgery to explore and repair or remove damaged organs. Unfortunately, elderly patients have higher risks for death and complications after trauma.
It all depends on what type of bleeding as well as its cause and location. Treatments range from nothing to treatment with fluids, blood an blood products to surgery depending on the condition of the patient.
