What happens if blood sugar gets too low while sleeping?

I am a 45 year old female. I want to know what happens if blood sugar gets too low while sleeping?

The body will often respond by releasing cortisol and waking you up since the body will be under stress with too low of blood sugar. If you find you are waking in the middle of the night you can always try to eat a snack (protein or fat based) before bed to help you get through the night without low blood sugar. If you are a Type 1 or Type 2 diabetic and you find this problem recurrently, talk to your doctor.
