Physical Therapist Questions Scoliosis

What is scoliosis?

I have been detected with mild scoliosis. According to the doctor, I do not require any treatment and my condition should improve on its own. What is this condition and how can I manage the pain associated with it?

I recommend you go to a physical therapist to see which side of your body is tight based on you curve. They will give you appropriate stretches to alleviate your pain.

Scoliosis is a condition where the spine curves and bends in the wrong direction. For some patients, bracing and/or surgery is appropriate. But if your case is mild, typically seeing a physical therapist will help you manage your pain.
Scoliosis is a term used to identify some curvatures of the spine. It is not always pathological or a source of pain. Sometimes there can be imbalances in our body and muscles that predispose us to these changes. Scheduling a visit with a doctor of physical therapy would be a wonderful place to start.
