What is the best pain relief after a tooth extraction?

I am a 31 year old male. I have pain after a tooth extraction. What is the best pain relief after a tooth extraction?

Alternating between an NSAID (like Motrin) and regular Tylenol every 2 hours can be effective. An alternative is to take a narcotic medication.
Pain after extraction should not last long. Best controlled with an NSAID such as ibuprofen. Note: maximum pain relief with ibuprofen is six tablets. Eight is no better, but harder on your stomach and kidneys.
