Heart attack and myocardial infarction(Mi) are virtually the same. The first one is used in layman's word and MI is a medical term. Heart attack means a acute event that is often translated into acute myocardial infarction(AMI). Therefore, MI can be acute, subacute and old. It all means that the heart muscle blood circulation is being blocked and heart muscle is therefore, dying or died.
