What's this crackling noise in my ear?

A few days ago, a crackling noise started in my right ear for no apparent reason. I have not shown any signs of being sick. What can it be?

Read about the eustachian tube function and middle ear pressure. You may have some inflammation in the nasal cavity, usually from allergic rhinitis or mild URI, and the eustachian tube opening is having a hard time opening to equalize the middle ear pressure. Try popping your ears as if you are on a plane. Do this several times a day. Any fluid that has been pulled into the middle ear (due to imbalance of middle ear pressure) will slowly resolve.
You could be hearing the eustachian tube opening (back of the nose connection to the ear) or this could be coming from your temporomandibular joint (TMJ).
This crackling is likely a form of Tinnitus. It’s the sensation of ringing, buzzing, hissing, chirping, whistling, or other sounds in the ears. For most people, Tinnitus doesn’t escalate to anything more than an annoyance and inconvenience.

There are many causes of Tinnitus from earwax buildup to eardrum damage and many more. Therefore, treatment varies based on the cause. It’s best to consult an Audiologist or Otolaryngologist (ENT).
