When can you exercise after a heart transplant?

I am a 53 year old female. I had a heart transplant a week ago. When can you exercise after a heart transplant?

In general, therapy is performed in a supervised cardiac rehab unit at your local hospital or nearby for a pre-specified duration, depending on your programs practices, this can defer from each center. Your transplant team should have instructed you that no driving or strenuous exercise for the first 6 weeks post sternotomy. They also should have referred you to a cardiac rehab program for structured monitoring during the first few months. During the initial period you should be able to do light household chores. Remember you are on immunosuppressive therapy now so you need to also be very aware if you are feeling like you are getting sick and notify your doctor.
