Why does my 2 year old son slap himself when angry?

My son is 2 years old. He slaps himself and cries when he gets something wrong.

Temper tantrums. It should go away, but it's possible that he is picking it from somewhere.
Not all 2 year olds slap themselves and cry when they get something wrong. This behavior can be called a temper tantrum, trying to get attention from the caretaker.
Many many possibilities. The key would be to explain that making mistakes is OK. This could be done by example. And importantly, one has to make sure there is no behavior regarding physical punishment that your two-year-old is modeling himself after. Role modeling healthy behavior, especially behavior associated with anger or frustration, is very important.

Hi,

Children frequently become frustrated when they are not able to say words correctly or they cannot find the right word to say. Sometimes, they are having difficulty getting the words out when they are speaking (stuttering). I would begin by going to the pediatrician to rule out any medical concerns.
There could be a couple of reasons for this. Either way, I would seek out a Developmental Pediatrician Evaluation as soon as possible to rule in or out some things that may be going on and get him therapy started.
Please express your concerns to your pediatrician and if needed request a Behavioral Therapy Evaluation.
