Why is my tooth sensitive to hot but not cold?

I am a 28 year old female. My tooth is sensitive to hot but not cold. What could be the cause?

Hot sensitivity may simply be transient and go away on its own in a couple days. If the hot sensitivity increases or wakes you up, it’s possible a nerve in that sensitive tooth is not vital and the pain is caused by bacteria end products in a confined tooth nerve space putting pressure on what’s either left on any vital tissue in that tooth or on the nerve root trunk.
Good luck.
