Dermatologist Questions Hair Loss

Why would a young guy have hair loss?

I'm a 20 year old guy, and I am experiencing hair loss already. Baldness does run in my family, but I feel like I'm too young. What could be causing my hair loss?

Androgenetic alopecia (hereditary baldness) does run in families, as often does the time of onset. I have many young male patients who had begun to show evidence of loss as early as their late teens. The earlier you seek treatment, the better to slow the rate of loss and to promote regrowth.
Yes we can see hair thinning in males at a young age. I usually recommend for patients to start with a good vitamin like Nutrofol or Vivascal vitamin. We can do a workuo and see what other cause can be affecting the situation.
There are lots of reasons, including hormonal imbalances, medications, premature hair loss, illness, infections.... Please see your dermatologist to get a more definitive diagnosis.
Typically, a young male such as yourself starts balding between the ages of 20-35. Being it's hereditary, Abdrogenetic Alopecia is female and male pattern baldness. It's a trend in the family history.
Unfortunately, some males start hair loss quite early in life. We have all seen males in their early 20's who have only peach fizz left on the top of the head. This form does seem to have a genetic component. The use of stem cells are in research, but not on the market yet.
Probably genetics but there are other possible diseases. I recommend evaluation by a dermatologist
