For Some Women, Survival Doesn't Justify Traveling for Ovarian Cancer Treatment

Recent study about willingness to travel

A recent study actually investigated whether women were willing to travel far and wide for centralized ovarian cancer treatments at high-volume centers. They wanted to see if there was a threshold point at which a survival benefit would convince women to seek treatment even if they had to travel a great distance. the researchers conducted a survey and recruited women who had had a pelvic mass discovered between February 2015 and February 2016.

The women were asked how much more 5-year survival benefit was required to convince them to travel 50 miles to get their treatments. They were also asked how much distance they would be willing to travel if that 5-year survival benefit was 6%.
