Breast Cancer Awareness Month: Getting Involved

Education is the key to more awareness

One of the main goals of Breast Cancer Awareness Month is to increase education and awareness of the disease. In a recent interview, Margaret Flowers, PhD. spoke about the basics of what everyone should know about breast cancer. Flowers emphasized that when it comes to detecting breast cancer in women, self-awareness and “knowing what is normal for her breast” is very important in self-monitoring. She advised that if you notice any symptoms or if anything seems unusual or changes about the breasts, to report these things to your doctor immediately. Early detection is extremely important when it comes to beating cancer.
