Update: The Talcum Powder Ovarian Cancer Lawsuits

Purposely misguided marketing?

Johnson & Johnson refuses to admit that their products might be dangerous, and states that their internal documents show that officials were aware of the potential risk associated with talc, but specifically decided against adding the warning because the products are safe. A memo from 1997 offers insight into the fact that the company knew about a heightened risk of hygienic talcum powder use, and even before that a separate memo referred to certain red flags regarding the use of talc due to a potential link to cancer. An aspect that is of particular concern to many customers, aside from their disregard for offering their consumers full information, is that through all this time of being aware of a potential danger, the company increased its baby powder marketing strategy to African-American and Hispanic women.
