Can a chiropractor be beneficial after childbirth?
Yes! Great question. Pelvic and lower back misalignment with associated pain symptoms are common before and after childbirth. Chiropractic care is helpful on both sides of the spectrum. I have treated many expectant mothers and have been told by those who had children without chiropractic care during pregnancy that it was like night and day. Shorter time in labor and easier delivery. Chiropractic is also good for children of all ages. Works great on colic and improves immune system response. I have adjusted up expecting mothers throughout the entire pregnancy as well as their newborns once delivered. I even adjusted my children before my wife held the child for first time. READ MORE
Why does my back crack when I turn over in bed?
Back cracking can occur whenever the spine’s facet joints are manipulated out of or into their normal position, such as when twisting the lower back or neck. When the facet joints move like this, they can produce an audible crack or pop along with a grinding sensation or sudden relief of pressure. The mechanisms that cause joints to crack or grind can differ from person to person. There are three primary theories about why facet joints crack, pop, or grind: Cavitation. Surrounding each facet joint is a capsule of liquid, called synovial fluid, that lubricates the joints and allows for smooth, comfortable movements. One theory on crepitus suggests that air pressure within the joint is suddenly altered when the joint is cracked, resulting in the formation or collapse of an air cavity in the synovial fluid that produces a popping sound.1 Ligament or tendon snapping. When a tight or tense ligament is pulled across a surface of bone, cartilage, or another tendon or ligament, it can create a snapping noise similar to a joint crack or pop. Bone grinding. Deteriorated cartilage surrounding a spinal joint can cause popping, cracking, or grinding. Cartilage may wear down from overuse and/or age, causing the bones of the joint to rub together and produce a grinding sensation and a sound similar to a crack or pop. READ MORE

Is chiropractic good for headaches?
Your doctor of chiropractic may do one or more of the following if you suffer from a primary headache: -Perform spinal manipulation or chiropractic adjustments to improve spinal function and alleviate the stress on your system. -Provide nutritional advice, recommending a change in diet and perhaps the addition of B complex vitamins. -Offer advice on posture, ergonomics (work postures), exercises, and relaxation techniques. This advice should help to relieve the recurring joint irritation and tension in the muscles of the neck and upper back. Chiropractors believe that some migraines originate in the spine. Often, a misalignment of the vertebrae, or subluxation, can irritate the nerves that travel the length of the spine to the brain. This misalignment makes a person more prone to chemical imbalances in the brain. Some researchers say that realigning the vertebrae — a chiropractor's specialty — relieves the pressure against inflamed nerves and can in turn relieve the headaches. READ MORE
Can a chiropractor fix a herniated disc?
To treat a herniated disc, your chiropractor will develop a treatment plan that may include spinal manipulation—also known as adjustments—and other chiropractic techniques to help ease your herniated disc symptoms. This will be an individualized treatment plan, but it may include manual therapy and therapeutic exercises. The specifics of what are in your treatment plan are particular to your pain, level of activity, overall health, and what your chiropractor thinks is best. As with any treatment option, don't hesitate to ask questions about what chiropractic treatments are being recommended and why. You want to make sure you understand what will be done and how it can help relieve your pain. Chiropractic treatment is effective for most patients. READ MORE

Can chiropractic care help my baby's fussiness?
Babies can be irritable due to pain or general discomfort. Sometimes, little ones are fussy or irritable from various factors including impaired sucking or incorrect latching, an immature digestive system, food allergens in breast milk, acid reflux, a slow digestive system, ear infections or slight tension in the spine. Numerous studies have shown that chiropractic treatment helps to reduce fussiness which could be the result of mechanical restrictions in your baby’s spine. These restrictions can lead to headaches, muscle spasms, increased nervous irritability, sleeping difficulties and crying. This is often why parents notice such a marked difference after just a few sessions at the chiropractor. READ MORE

Can a chiropractor fix costochondritis?
There is no standard treatment for costochondritis other than managing symptoms. However, chiropractic has proven to be exceptional for managing pain. Chiropractic treatment for the condition involves a gentle approach with anterior thoracic chiropractic adjustments along with treatment for the soft tissue around the affected area and extending along the nerve path. My Office offers Ultrasound and Cold Laser Therapy, both proven effective in treating inflammation. The chiropractor may also recommend alternating heat and cold directly on the painful areas. Light massage may also work and the chiropractor will show them how to do this at home for continuing self-care. With regular chiropractic treatments and diligent self-care at home, patients can lessen the occurrences of costochondritis and greatly reduce or eliminate the pain. READ MORE
