What are the best natural fertility treatments?
Well, the best way the address infertility is to determine you cycle patterns and ovulation. So start as cycle calendar and pick up a urine ovulation kit. Record those for 3-6 months in a ledger. Then once you have determine your ovulation pattern, have intercourse during that week. Most patients that have regular cycles and ovulate will conceive. Dear soon to be mom, Weight gain is common, but excessive weight gain should be avoided due to the increased complications associated with obesity. A well-balanced diet, mild to moderate exercise, and plenty of water is so important for you and your baby. Try to eat more vegetables and fiber, which can give you a full feeling sooner on less calories. Increasing water intake can also decrease your hungry and is so important as your body builds the intravascular volume. Try to limit your sweets...maybe once a week, as a celebration for another week closer to meeting your little one. Pregnancy is a difficult time, but a little encouragement can go a long way. The most effective are non-steroidal anti inflammatory medications, such as ibuprofen or naproxen. There are stronger prescriptions medications such as ketorolac that are very effective. READ MORE
Is it safe to have oral sex during pregnancy?
Yes, oral sex can be safe during pregnancy, with certain precautions. Fellacio and cunnilingus are methods using the tongue to stimulate the genitals, i.e., the penis or clitoris/vagina, respectively; both are safe. I caution not to have any contact if you or your partner has a "cold sore," which is most commonly the HSV 2 virus and can transmit this very serious (potentially deadly virus) to your child during birth. Also, other STIs (sexually transmitted infections) can be transmitted during oral sex and if there any lesions on the penis or vagina, have your healthcare provider examine the area. READ MORE
What could be the reason behind repeated ectopic pregnancies?
There can be several reasons for repeat ectopic pregnancies: previous tubal scars from infections, endometriosis, hydrosalpinx, to congenital malformation of the reproductive organs, just to name a few. I recommend seeing a gynecologist for a full evaluation, which would include imaging, cultures, laparoscopy and possibly a tubal ligation and pregnancy via IVF. I am 6 months pregnant and I am suffering from a viral infection. Will the antibiotics have any impact on my baby?
Most antibiotics used in pregnancy are safe. Penicillin, amoxicillin, erythromycin, and cephalosporins are all safe. Stay away from doxycyclines or tetracyclines and fluoroquinolones. However, antibiotics are for bacterial infections, not for viral infections. There are antivirals used for influenza if started within 2 days of symptoms. I hope you feel better soon. READ MORE
