  • Does a hair transplant require invasive surgery?

Hi this is a great question. There are multiple ways to address hair loss. The common procedure we consider "hair transplant" is a follicular unit graft placement. This requires harvest of hair follicles from the back of the head and transplanting them to the areas of hair loss. Depending on the amount of hair loss anywhere from 1500 to 3000 follicular units can be grafted in one sitting. This procedure is not a very invasive or painful procedure. Today most surgeons use a robot to harvest each follicular unit individually and all that is required is to numb the area of the harvest and the area of the transplant. After surgery there is some mild aching or discomfort but it lasts for only a few days. READ MORE

  • Whats the earliest age you can get a cosmetic nose job?

This is a great questions. We know that our nose continues to grow and mature into our early adulthood. It is generally thought that the safest age is when most of the growth has happened. In most that is after the age of 16. However, some people can have surgery a few years before that while others should have surgery a few years after that. This is generally determined based on how much bone structure maturity someone's face has. So the best way to know is to see your facial plastic surgeon. READ MORE

  • Can plastic surgery change the entire shape of my nose?

Unfortunately, no one can promise a 100% result. But the good news is that we can generally have a very good idea of what we can do or not do with a nose prior to the surgery. A crooked nose with a bump is something that can definitely be corrected with a cosmetic rhinoplasty and the results are generally very good and patients are very happy. You just have to make sure you surgeon is a board certified facial plastic surgeon who has completed years of training in facial and nasal surgery. READ MORE

  • How do I know if I have a deviated septum? Will I need surgery?

Sometimes having a deviated septum is obvious. You can look at your nose from the base view and see if the middle wall is crooked. Sometimes it is not so obvious and the deviation is inside the nose. In that case the symptoms are generally a blocked nostril. Sometimes you can have nose bleeds because of a deviated septum. In that case, you will have to see your facial plastic surgeon or ear nose and throat surgeon to know if your septum is deviated. Generally, the only way to improve breathing is to have surgery to get the septum fixed. The surgery is usually outpatient and recovery is about one week. READ MORE

  • What can I do to get rid of my stretch marks and excess skin?

First, congratulations on losing over 100 lbs. That is a major accomplishment and you should be proud of yourself. Now, there are several treatments for stretch marks which include lasers, carboxytherapy and surgery. If you also have excessive skin after your weight loss then surgery that can remove the excessive skin and address the stretch marks is likely the ideal option for you. READ MORE

  • Is plastic surgery done with anesthesia?

Most of hair transplantation does not need anesthesia but while you are getting numb it is best to have a slight amount of twilight sedation so that you do not feel the discomfort of the injections. This can be done without any breathing tubes placed and is only for your comfort. READ MORE

  • What treatment should I have to remove my stitch marks?

I assume what you are referring to is the cross marks from the stitch. To treat this depends on when your last surgery was. If it was less than a year then you should wait as it can continue to fade. If more than a year it can be treated with either topical medication, laser resurfacing or excision and re closure. • What are the risks involved with a plastic surgery procedure?

This is a great question that comes up often. The answer, however, mostly depends on the exact type of plastic surgery that is being performed. With facial surgery, there are two categories of correction. It can be either soft tissue correction for aging (such as facelift, blepharoplasty, brow lift...) or bony augmentation (such as chin implant, cheek implant...) or a combination of both (such as a nose job or rhinoplasty). Each of these procedures has its own set of risks so without knowing which procedure, the general risks are bleeding, infection, nerve or muscle weakness, scarring or pigmentary changes. There are more specific risks associated with each different procedure. READ MORE

  • What is the best way to treat crooked nose?

This is a great question. The best way to address a crooked nose is to have a rhinoplasty surgery. This is the best solution for improving the shape of the nose. READ MORE

  • How can I treat wrinkles around my eyes?

Thank you for asking. The wrinkles around the eyes can be treated in several ways. First, having a good skin care regimen is important. You should always wash makeup at the end of the day and apply a good cleanser to remove any dirt from the skin. then application of a good moisturizer is important. Lastly, a good antioxidant lotion helps to stimulate collagen formation. A special eye cream can also be applied. This regimen should be followed regardless of doing any surgical procedure. Next, plastic surgery can help to remove the wrinkles. This can be done via various techniques and depends on your skin type and extent of the wrinkles. Lasers, peels and surgery can all be done alone or in combination to achieve the desired results. READ MORE

  • Is botox bad for you?

That is a great question. Botox is a medication and like all medications it can have side effects. However, the risks are very low. Most common complaint is bruising at the site of the injection and temporary headaches. In most cases these are very temporary. Botox is otherwise a very popular product injected safely millions of times each year with a very high patient satisfaction profile. Dr. Zandifar READ MORE

  • Skin feels bumpy after IPL

First let me say that IPL when performed properly is safe and with limited complications. After an IPL or photofacial it is not uncommon for some of our pores to get plugged and we feel the bumps on our skin. This is usually from the lube used on the laser during treatment. This is likely what you are experiencing. If this is the case, it should dissipate in a day or two. Just make sure you are using a non-comedogenic moisturizer. If there is redness or pain associated with it, then you could be getting an infection and I would see your doctor immediately to start the right kind of treatment. Hope this helped.
