Mandy Bennett: Share What It Is Like to Live with an Invisible Illness
HEALTHJOURNEYS

There are no tests to prove we have an illness, no bruises or scars. You feel invisible or just moaning.

Fibromyalgia has a lot of misconceptions attached to it. What do you wish people understood about fibromyalgia?

We look normal, no rashes, bruises, no thermometer to say how tired we really are. Pain can strike anywhere on the body at any time. Brain fog is probably the only thing we can say really happens as our close friends see how our words get mixed up (e.g. The cat was black, but i say The bat was clack ha ha). We can't take information in unless we have complete silence and can concentrate on the question, although we are not stupid.

Has any one told you that "you don't look sick?"

Only my husband as I don't tell anyone unless they are family or doctors who know I have fibromyalgia.

Tell us, who is your biggest support system while coping with fibromyalgia?

My daughter and fibromyalgia groups on UK sites.
