MPI DMSA

MPI DMSA injection is a radioactive agent or radiopharmaceutical that is used in finding and treating certain diseases or in studying the functions of your organs.

Allergies

Pediatric

No appropriate studies have been performed. Safety and efficacy of the use of this drug in children have not been established.

Geriatric

No appropriate age-related studies performed in the geriatric population. Nevertheless, age-specific problems are not expected to stop the medicine’s usefulness in the elderly. When giving this drug to elderly patients, utmost care must be considered since they are more prone to age-related kidney diseases.

Pregnancy

It is not sure if there are adequate studies done in pregnant women or if animal studies showing adverse effects are available.

Breastfeeding

There are appropriate studies done showing that using this drug may have an effect on the milk’s composition and its production. If there is no alternative medicine available, close monitoring of the breastfeeding infant must be done to check for adequate milk intake and side effects.

Drug Interactions

Some drugs have adverse effects when used together. Make sure to inform your doctor about other drugs you are taking, so that alterations and precautions will be made if necessary. Before using Technetium Tc 99m Succimer injection, talk to your doctor about possible interactions if you are taking other medications.

It is also important to inform your doctor if you are smoking tobacco or drinking alcohol since these may interact with the drug’s effectiveness. Inform your doctor about any drug you are using, prescription or nonprescription, as well as vitamins and herbal supplements.
