Can COVID infection cause kidney damage 2 months after?

I had a COVID infection 2 months ago. I was diagnosed today with kidney damage. Can COVID infection cause kidney damage 2 months after?

Unfortunately yes. the kidneys can be affected by COVID.
I hesitate to say no, but it would be uncommon. Acute renal failure occurs with severe Covid-19 and most recover but some may not. How do you know kidney damage just developed- maybe it was there before and just recognized now?
Most kidney damage occurs during the active stages of severe COVID-19. The early signs or symptoms may be subtle, and they may not be discovered until 1-2 months later.
