I will have thyroid surgery. Can I get local anesthesia for thyroid surgery?

I would not recommend that. That surgery needs to be done under general anesthesia. Also please note complications of thyroid surgery can include damage to the recurrent laryngeal nerve (leading to voice changes), damage to the parathyroid glands (causing calcium imbalances), infection, bleeding, and scarring.
