Can a male UTI last for more than a month?

To start this off I think the cause of the UTI is the neglect of hygiene. By this, I mean that I used a sock to ejaculate into which had been under my bed for a month that I had used multiple times prior. I woke up one day and I needed to urinate so I did but the urge did not go away afterward. Did a urine culture and I was diagnosed with a UTI. I have been on antibiotics for a month and 6 days now with some days of break in between and the symptoms have gotten much better but they recently came back a bit. Is it possible for a male to have a UTI that lasts longer than a month? Is it even possible to cause a UTI by what I find to be the main cause?
