Can an untreated UTI turn into a kidney infection?

I am a 46 year old male. I want to know if an untreated UTI can turn into a kidney infection?

Yes, it's possible. Bacteria gets in and it has to get out. As your body tries to get rid of the bacteria that doesn't belong in your bladder, it tries to push it out and you urinate more frequently. However, if the bacteria multiplies quickly, they overwhelm the bladder and the outflow, thereby marching UPwards toward the kidney.
Yes it can. Bladder infections can ascend up the ureters to the kidneys and potentially cause kidney damage and/ or sepsis. One should see their primary care physician for evaluation and treatment any time one develops symptoms of a urinary tract infection (urinary frequency, urgency, burning, blood, back pain, fever).
Yes.
