Can you get sepsis from a tooth extraction?

I am a 29 year old female. I want to know if you can get sepsis from a tooth extraction?

Yes. If infection is present under the tooth prior to the extraction and it gets into the bloodstream, then sepsis can occur. This is why taking an antibiotic prior to the extraction is so important.
Yes it can become more serious if not attended to.
It depends. Sepsis is bacteria in blood. If the tooth had infection prior to extraction, it is possible. Unlikely, but possible. Contact your dentist if you are suspicious of sepsis or infection or have fever or swelling.

Sepsis from a tooth extraction is a rare occurrence with untreated prior severe infection and medical conditions such as immune compromise responsible.
Hope this helps answer your question.
If and only if you have a very large abscess. We need to put you on IV antibiotics and drain the abscess first, then extract the tooth.
