Neurologist Questions Meningitis

How is meningitis treated?

My good friend has been diagnosed with meningitis and despite treatment, his condition is not getting better. What is the ideal course of treatment and how long does it take for the body to start responding?

There are several types of meningitis, each requiring different treatment. The answer depends on what type of meningitis was found. Talk to the physician.
Meningitis usually has immediate complications- headaches and such- those are usually relieved within 2-4 weeks of treatment.
Because of scar tissue however, some symptoms can take months if not years; to be resolved. Things like photosensitivity, blurry vision, etc.

Every symptom has a different range of improvement, some rapidly, some not.
