In young, healthy patients with uncomplicated acute appendicitis done laparoscopically, you can go home the same or next day, depending on the time of your procedure.
Normal discharge next day.
The usual stay in the hospital after an uncomplicated appendectomy is 1-2 days at most. If the procedure is complicated, there can be a prolonged stay depending on the complication.
More often than not, patients go home the same day after an appendectomy. The vast majority goes home the next day. The people who stay the longest are the ones who have perforated (ruptured) appendicitis.
