That depends on the drug and the amount of that drug which is used. This is kind of a tough question not knowing what anesthetic drug you are talking about. Generally, for a general anesthetic, the patient is given a pre-sedation amount to relax them while monitors are placed and oxygen is given. When we are ready to induce the patient, we typically give propofol, which will have you asleep in less than 60 seconds.
30-60 seconds after the intravenous induction agent is given.

Seconds.
Depending on how much medicine is given and how fast the medicine circulates in your blood, 1-2 minutes.
If you are going to have general anesthesia, you will be given intravenous (inside the vein) medication(s), that makes you go to sleep in less than a minute. After you are sleep, the anesthesia and sleep is maintained with inhalational agents that you breathe in, and remain asleep until your operation is over. Then, the inhalational agent is turned off, and you wake up slowly from anesthesia.
Good luck.

From the time the anesthetic is administered through the IV it takes about 30 seconds to be completely asleep.
Less than than 20 sec.
5-15 seconds depending on your size, heart rate and past use of drugs, marijuana and alcohol intake which increase anesthetic requirements
