Is abdominal aneurysm serious?

I was diagnosed with an abdominal aneurysm. Is abdominal aneurysm serious?

1 Answer

An abdominal aneurysm is a fusiform, football shaped enlargement that develops usually around the mid to lower portion of your abdominal aorta and can get serious once it gets beyond about 4.5 cm in diameter. It should be monitored every 6 months with an ultrasound or CT scan to see if it is getting larger. Any pain you have in your abdomen should be reported to your physician immediately. Hope that helps.
