Is it normal to have jaw pain with braces?

I wear braces and have jaw pain. Is it normal? What should I do?

Normal due to changes in the way teeth are coming together.

How old are YOU?  Orthodontic treatment means TOOTH and bone changes. With braces there is constant pressure that causes bone resorption. There is also tension that causes bone formation. This together with the teeth that have ligaments attached to both the root in one side and the bone (jaw) in the other side will cause pain. Ask your dentist what medication is best for you. Advil, Aleve Tylenol are good options.A. Romanowsky DDS
Sometimes during orthodontic treatment, as teeth move, they change the bite and how teeth come together. This may put pressure on the jaw and cause pain. Talk to your dentist and see if it goes away once the treatment is done.
