Critical Care Medicine Specialist Questions Emergency Medicine

My daughter is sick, I don’t know what to do?

Her feet are black and swollen, her chest is starting to get black. She’s losing weight. She’s very pale. She’s deteriorating in front of my eyes. I tell her to let’s go to the emergency room, she says no. I called the ambulance about 3 weeks ago and they said they can’t make her go. What am I to do?

I am so sorry to hear that. It is true that you cannot force her to go, she needs to agree. Try to convince her to see primary care doctor. She might be more likely to agree to outpatient visit, then ER. Even though less ideal, but you could have her do virtual visit with PCP from home or at least psychologist or psychiatrist to talk to her to see why she does not want to receive medical care when needed. I am so sorry, but sounds like she needs medical evaluation.
I hope this helps.

A physical exam and blood testing are essential immediately.
