Pediatric Ophthalmologist Questions Colored contacts

My son wants to wear colored lenses. Is it safe?

My son is 13 years old and wants to wear colored lenses, instead of his clear ones. Are these safe?

They have the same risks as clear contacts.
The colored lenses are not as good as the clears. More research in the clears. All contacts are inherently dangerous if not properly used. My experience is that many of those who wear them abuse the rules and get into problems. Stay with the clear lenses.
If it’s prescription contact lenses, the safety profile is the same with clear contact lenses.
If he's already wearing clear lenses, it should be OK.
