Period concerns and birth control?

So I’m currently on birth control and I’ve skipped my placebo pills for the past 3 months and just recently started them again. I’ve gotten my period and I thought it had ended after 4 days but I won’t be bleeding all day and then I’ll start bleeding a little bit and then it’ll go away and then come back, I’m just confused if this is still considered my period and it’s already been 7 days of bleeding, I’m just worried and want to make sure this is normal considering I haven’t had my period for a couple of months. Is the duration normal?

Did you restart the active pills on time? If so, you should be protected from a contraception standpoint. Since you haven't bled for 3 months, that may be why the bleeding is a little longer.
Some doctors and prescription companies recommend that you can skip your placebo pills for 3 months. It means that your bleeding will be much heavier because the lining of the uterus becomes much thicker when there is no bleeding on a monthly basis. If you continue to have bleeding for more than 7 days, then you will want to schedule a visit with the gyn doctor. You may be prescribed hormone therapy, like progesterone only pills, to stop the bleeding. Even though this is a general recommendation in gynecology, it may be worth considering that going 3 months without a period is too disruptive for your body. General recommendations are fine, but You are unique and you have unique needs.
Blessings!
