Usually general.
Usually, the laser ablation for spider veins is done under general anesthesia and it is pretty safe for otherwise healthy patients. If you have any concerns, you can talk to your anesthesiologist through your surgeon and it can be individualized according to your needs.
It is called monitor anesthesia care or MAC. Basically consist of sedation with a benzodiazepine and a small dose of pain killer while the surgeon may inject local anesthesia at the site of incisions.
