Why do I feel nauseous after the chiropractor?

I am a 39 year old female and I feel nauseous after the chiropractor. What could be the cause?

Several reasons. I would get a second chiropractor's opinion.
It could be a few things, since I'm not sure what the chiropractor is treating. If you are dehydrated or have an inner ear problem, turning from side to side might make you queasy. Also, if your treatment consists of heat, ice, or a lot of exercises, that might be throwing off your body temperature or blood pressure and make you nauseated. Nevertheless, I would bring it up with your chiropractor.
This could be a sign that there is something very wrong. First of all, you should get evaluated by a health care professional who will take a thorough history and perform a comprehensive examination. It is important to understand why this is happening. There are several things that could cause this, but it is very difficult to narrow down without more information and an exam. Here are some possible causes: brain trauma, vertigo, vestibular dysfunction, Chiari malformation, vertebral basilar artery insufficiency, stroke, Meniere's disease, or it could simply be motion sickness from the rotatory adjustment. Again, you need to be evaluated and do some testing in order to find out what is going on.
This is something to be concerned with. Question: do you have any previous neck injury, like a car crash, slip and fall, concussion? Even a minor fender bender? You could be dealing with an upper cervical ligament instability. Look up alar ligament injury and vagus nerve dysfunction. Has your chiropractor taken neck X-rays with flexion and extension studies? Bottom line, you should not be having this response and the Chiro should not continue to adjust your neck until they are able to determine the pathology that is causing this reaction.
If you think about it, your spine can hold on to a lot of tension, toxins, and stress. When your spine is treated by your chiropractor, the release of all of the things that have built up over time may be a shock to your system and the way you react to it may be to feel sick.
This is not a usual response that I hear from my patients. I would call and ask your Chiropractor why you feel nauseous after the treatments.
