1 Answer

After vaccine injection, significant systemic immune activation may occur with signs suggesting reactive systemic inflammation, such as fever, aches, fatigue. This is due to peripheral proinflammatory cytokines (IL-1β, IL-6, and TNF-α), expressed after the injection of the vaccines. The symptoms typically improve with time and can last to up to 48 hours, but in some patients can be longer. Usually, treatment is focused in decreasing the inflammation with steroids or NSAIDs.
