Why do chiropractors use activators?

I am a 28 year old female. I want to know why do chiropractors use activators?

Chiropractors use the activator instrument for the same reason as regular adjustments - to restore proper motion to the joints of the body. The activator can be used for adjustments, and is used exclusively for adjustments by chiropractors that use the 'Activator Method' of determining restrictions.

It can be considered as a low force adjusting method, so some chiropractors use the instrument for patients that do not like standard hand manipulation of the neck for instance. It is also extremely useful for smaller joints (hands, toes, etc.

I use an activator on babies or elderly or some muscles. It works well and some people don't like the popping sound or twisting of adjustments. Just another technique.
Some Chiropractors use the Activator and some don’t! It is a mechanical way to adjust the spine as opposed to manual adjustments done by hand. It is based off of preference of the patient, in my opinion. Whatever helps the patient the most, that is the method of treatment that should be used. Some Chiropractors only use the Activator and are still able to help a lot of people!
Not all chiropractors use Activators. When used, it is a less forceful way to adjust the spine or reduce muscle tension using a spring-loaded device rather than manipulating with the hand. I personally use it most when a patient cannot tolerate the force of a normal manual adjustment. But that's just my personal choice.
The Activator device is designed to mimic the effects of a manual spinal adjustment. Some chiropractors use the device because they find it is a more precise way of manipulating the spine. Due to the speed of the instrument, muscles are less likely to tense during treatment.
I can tell you why I use an activator. I use an activator because many individuals are uncomfortable with a manual adjustment (when chiropractors use their hands). Some times a manual adjustment may hurt the patient more than help. An activator will not do this. Activators can be placed on very specific joints, especially the smaller joints, to ensure the proper joint is being adjusted. It is a very useful tool, which is why I think many chiropractors use one.
It is one of many techniques which Chiropractors may use in their practice. Some Doctors prefer to use the Activator with certain patients, and some patients prefer the Activator over manual adjustments.
