More than likely you may have flat feet (Pes Planus)... fallen arches ... also known as: Hyperpronation! The remedy will, more than likely be: custom made Orthotics!
There can be several causes from foot pronation to strain/sprain of the ankle. Orthotics may help as well as Chiropractic adjustment to the ankle. You may also need either a support or taping around the ankle. Plus exercises
Ankle pain can be caused from multiple conditions. I recommend contacting your Primary Care Physician for an evaluation.
Please get evaluated by an X-ray
There can be numerous causes of ankle pain at night. Sprain/strain of the ankle, Morton's Neuroma, Neuropathy, Vitamin/Mineral deficiency, improper foot wear, Dehydration, Cardiac and Kidney issues to name several deferential possibilities. having consistent ankle pain at night should be assessed right away to rule out anything more serious. To answer your question better, I would need more information specific to your complaint. This is where you should speak to your Doctor and provide them with a history of the complaint, such as the mechanism of injury, your health history, your activity level and diet.
There are 7 bones in the ankle that must move in concert. When a subluxation is present, there is a micro-trauma with each step. By the end of the day, the micro-traumas sum up to trauma, and inflammation sets in to repair the damage.

It could be almost anything from not so bad to bad. If it hurts more at night, that could indicate poor foot, ankle, knee, hip, pelvis, spine alignment. A chiropractor can help you resolve that issue. Have you had any trauma to your ankle? If there is redness and swelling and heat, I encourage you, too, to see a medical professional or go to urgent care.

Your best bet would to go see a doctor for evaluation. Ankle pain at night could be an ankle issue, circulation, or even a low back problem.
This may be caused from overuse if you are on your feet all day. This may also be an old injury which hasn't fully healed. I recommend going to Sports Chiroractor to properly diagnose and treat the cause of your pain.
