Internist Questions Constipation

Will taking constipation medication in the long term cause health issues?

I have been regularly taking medication for my constipation problem. Will this cause me any health issues in the future? Should I approach this a different way?

Most medications for treatment of constipation GI stimulants they act by superseding your own GI impulses and hence long term use may eventually paralyze your gut.
Depends what you are taking. I recommend natural fixes first if possible. I do recommend prunes: soak prunes in water overnight and then next day warm the water and prunes and then eat that daily. In addition to that add fiber twice daily.
