Family Practitioner Questions Flu Shot

Can the flu shot actually give you the flu?

My brother tells me all the time that the flu shot will give me the flu and not to give one. Is there any truth to this?

No.
This is not true as the injection is not active vaccine.
You won't get the flu, but you may get a fever and some cold symptoms similar to when children get their immunizations. Your body is just responding appropriately to make antibodies against the virus. Not all people experience this and I suppose that if it's your 1st shot, your reaction may be more pronounced. I and my family get it every year and we
have no reaction!
