There are a few ways to make lips bigger with surgery. One method is via fat grafting. This is where fat is taken from another part of the body (such as the stomach or thigh). Another method is to use a permanent implant for lip augmentation. Both these techniques give great results and have little recovery time.
The best options for a lip augmentation are fillers or fat transfer. Operations like lip lift surgery can leave the patient with fairly significant scars that are hard to camouflage.
Good luck.
An insertion of fat from any location (commonly the navel) can give a permanent increase in size of the lips. The incision is hidden and very small, a tunnel is created inside the lip muscle and the fat inserted. Some temporary loss of lip sensation is normal. The procedure can be done in the office in about 30 minutes under local injection anesthesia.
This is something we often do with lip lifts. It pulls your lip out and projects it forward. The incision is hidden under your nose so no one can see it and its essentially permanent!
We recommend filler in the lips. It lasts up to 12 months and there are many types of filler that can be used, depending on the results you are wanting to achieve. Most of our patients usually need 1 full syringe.
The best method is with fat grafting as it results with a permanent result. There is some skill in getting a very good result. I have been in practice longer than anyone in private practice including University of Florida and. the Mayo Clinic. I unfortunately take care of many botched cases. If you are a artist and were to screech lips, there is specific continue features that are necessary to achieve the contour and shape that give a very attractive even if large. I have seen too much placed in wrong places such as lateral upper lip so that it looks like a sausage rather than a lip. The center needs to be much fuller with the mucosal show and not too much above the. There is a tapering if the protrusion and then the sides need to taper naturally resulting in an attractive lip. The same is necessary for the lower lip. Dr Sidney Coleman has been the greatest contributor an I use his technique which results in about 90 percent of graft survival making the results very predictable and allowing excellent artistry
I have used fillers to enhance the lips however, I am no longer doing this type of cosmetics. I would refer your to a Facial Plastic Surgeon for options that best fit your need.
Lip augmentation is one procedure that can give you fuller lips. However, there are also fillers available that can give you the same effect without surgery. To find out the best option for you, it is always best to schedule an appointment with a board certified plastic surgeon to discuss the best options available for your particular needs.
Yes. Juvederm (injected) or alloderm placement (surgically).
Surgical enhancement of the lips can take the form of several different surgical procedures. For older patients, a "lip lift" may produce the desired results. For younger patients, typically surgical procedures involve enhancing lip volume by either fat or fat + other tissue (dermal fat) grafting or transfer to the lip. Thank you for your question.
Patients and plastic surgeons have been seeking the perfect solution for obtaining fuller lips for as long as I have been in practice. That is over 30 years. I have seen all sorts of procedures and implants come and go. None has worked well; all have had serious shortcomings. There is nothing on the market at this time that I will surgically implant in a lip for augmentation. The complication rate is too high and the results, when they work, are too unnatural. Fat grafting to the lip often does not last and can look odd. My favorite lip enhancement at the present time is Juvederm XC injected into the margin of the lip using a very fine, blunt needle. The results are beautiful, noticeable but subtle, and the lips look and feel perfectly natural. The result lasts about one year although I have had a couple of patients where it lasted 2-3 years.
I hope this answers your question.

Sincerely,

Richard T. Bosshardt, MD, FACS
Hi, and thanks for your question! This depends on several different factors that are often based on physical exam. That said, there are surgical options to add volume to the lips, as well as lift without adding volume like an upper lip lift. An in-person consultation is the best way to see what would be right for you.
Best of luck.

There are various surgical procedures for lip augmentation, however, there are also multiple injectables that can be used very successfully to augment and shape lips without a surgical procedure. You should consult with a board certified plastic surgeon.
Good luck.
Your lips can be made large with fillers and/or surgery
