MS is a clinical diagnosis that is characterized by an auto-immune mediated degeneration of the myelin coating around our nerves. Your friend would have to have clinical signs and suspicion of disease on examination, and also positive findings on an MRI to confirm the diagnosis and fit the criteria for treatment with disease modulating therapies. Therapies for
those with MRI confirmed disease can include injectable medicines, IV steroid therapy, and now oral medications.
