Weeks usually.
If you are talking about seeing a bruise on your elbow and how long that takes time to resolve, at 28 years of age it should take no longer than 3 weeks. However if the trauma you had caused what is called a bone bruise, in other words if it was severe enough to cause microfractures in the bone and "bruised" the bone, this can easily take 6 months.
Skin bruising “coloration” can last for 7 to 10 days. The pain usually lasts 5 to 19 days. Deeper bruising of muscle can be painful for a few weeks as the swelling is worked out. Bone bruised in the joints can be painful for months. One NCAA study of bone bruises stated pain can be noted for 4-6 months in this study of knee bone bruises. Usually, “bruised” extremities settle down around a weeks time.

When you have a bruise in your elbow, you probably have a bleeding either underneath the skin or in your muscle. With a bruise you can have injured muscle or even contused bone. Normally intact a week or 2 for the bruise to resolve. The duration of the pain in your elbow depends on the degree of the injury of the muscle and the bone. If the pain of the elbow last
more than 2 weeks. You should go to see a doctor for an X-ray and examination.
Usually 3-4 weeks. If the pain is not getting better after 4-6 weeks, it's probably worth getting looked at.

Depends on the injury. If it’s a minor bruise the pain can go away within a few days. Bruising can also represent a more serious injury such as a fracture which may need longer to heal and x-rays will show the need for possible surgical treatment
