Transplant Surgeon Questions Kidney Transplant

Is it common for the body to reject a new kidney?

My father needed to have a kidney transplant but once he was able to get one, his body rejected the new kidney and now he needs another one. Is this a common situation?

It is not common for most patients to have rejection rates at less than 10%. The really good news is greater than 90% of acute rejections are successfully treated.
