If a nerve is being pinched by either a herniated disc or arthritis in the back (two common reasons), then the goal is to either decrease the inflammation of the nerve so it doesn't hurt so much, or to take the pressure off the nerve.
So, it could be medication, injections, exercises, PT, or traction (for example)
Or, it could mean surgery.
It all depends how long and how bad it is.
It depends on the actual origin of pain as sciatic pain can be related to the lumbar spine, piriformis and hamstrings, for example. Best to get a good history and physical done to figure out the origin of the pain to get the best treatment options.
Of course. Here's what you need to do: Lay on you back with a pillow under your knees. Avoid prolonged sitting or repetitive bending at the waist. See an orthopedic surgeon and get examined. Take anti-inflammatory meds such as advil, or prescription medications. Avoid using narcotics, they just cover the problem up. The surgeon may recommend an MRI or
epidural shot - do it.

Hope it helps!!

Anti-inflammatories, muscle relaxing medications, gentle low back stretching and abdominal strengthening. If that fails, see a physician who specializes in epidural steroid injections
Yes there is. Try piriformis stretching exercises as well as hamstring stretching. There are also McConnell stretching exercises that you can look up on the net. If that doesn’t help you will need to see your doctor for an MRI of your lumbar spine.
