Cardiologist Questions Chest Pain

What are the possible triggers of left side chest pain?

I am 45 years old with a fair level of activity in my everyday routine. I don't have any habits like smoking or even drinking. I have history of cardiac issues running in my family and therefore am a little concerned about the possible triggers which could result in a heart attack. I have been noticing a slight pain around the left side of my chest, could this be a sign of a cardiac issue or could other factors contribute to this pain?

It depends upon nature of pain. Cardiac chest pain is generally described as pressure or tightness. if the pain is sharp like a knife of needle it is not likely to be cardiac.
Stress, high cholesterol, high blood pressure, recreational drugs, smoking (including cigars, e-cigarettes), diabetes, gout, overweight can precipitate cardiac disease. You should definitely make sure that this pain is not cardiac origin. Good luck
Is enough to make me concerned
If you have a family history of premature coronary artery disease, exertional chest pain or shortness of breath could indicate presence of coronary disease and if that's the case, you need a stress test. If your chest pain is positional or not exertional and sharp and of short duration, most likely not coronary disease. Acid reflux also can give chest pain.
Impossible to say from your limited description of symptoms. It could represent a cardiac condition, but not clear. The absence of risk factors does not preclude you are having a cardiac condition. You should see a cardiologist and likely have a stress test to assess further.
Yes it could be with activity but there are other causes such as gastric or muscular skeletal among others . My thought before any excerise program with your family history a cardiac eval, and a regular stress test / ekg , but there are other causes for chest pain.
Family history is a very strong risk factor for cardiac disease especially coronary artery disease(CAD) . And family history of premature CAD has even significant impact. Chest pain can be from many reasons but most important to rule out is one with significant morbidity i.e cardiac. Its a prediction based on risk factors.
You can have coronary artery disease without any risk factors. If you have chest pain, get evaluated with a stress test, hopefully with a cardiologist.

Triggers of heart attack can be psychic stress from death of a loved one, or some other catastrophy, like a hurricane, earthquake, etc.

Get checked.
Multiple factors can contribute but if symptoms persist,Cardiac evaluation is needed
This should be checked with an EKG, and a stress test given your family history of premature CAD. All cardiac risk factors including LDL levels, glycemic index, blood pressure, central obesity and BMI should be strictly modified. You could also consider obtaining a Calcium score CT to check the atherosclerosis burden in your coronary arterial tree.
